Re: possible to connect a USB external hard drive to an Andr

Bad news folks. It doesn't work. The phone doesn't see the sd card at all. My file manager only shows the internal micro sd card. Ah, well. There are more ways to skin a cat ... I'm going to get an sd card adapter which will accept a micro sd card. Using that in my camera will allow me to record ont...

Re: Finding any Linux to run on my laptop?

Wired connections almost always work in current OSes.
The Debian installer CD does not have a live-mode, dual-booting is supported, but may require manual partitioning.

Re: can ubuntu's update manager be hacked?

Yes and no. Having that 5 minutes were the system does not ask for a password (this behavior can be disabled, by the way) will not enable people to log into your account and do malicious things. But there may be the (I would think rare) coincidence that in that five minutes an attacker uses an explo...

Re: Creating a Wi Fi hotspot with a 7 inch Android Tab?

On my E71 I use JoikuSpot from the Ovi store (or whatever it's called this week) to turn my phone into a WiFi hotspot. I liked it so much I got the paid for version but the free version is OK, it just lacks any encryption so you have to be careful to secure your connection some other way.

Re: Sony Vaio and Linux

The tools are ntfsresize, and gparted(I think).

ntfsresize resizes the ntfs partition. then you can cut disk space. I gave vista 35G and I'm always battling for the last bit of space there. I have a kid who boots it when he visits and it seems to update itself now, much to my annoyance.

Re: Cannot format my harddrive..I need partions...help

Feedback is always a good thing. Can you post the supporting technical reference (or a link) that will substantiate your conclusion? I know you wouldn't make such an assertion without a valid reason.......and I'm always eager to learn something new as long as it's backed up by research from a credib...

Updates and drivers make windows crash on boot up?

I have windows 7 installed on a PC I built a little over a year ago. I recently upgraded to the windows 8 consumer preview, but I didn't like it so I'm trying to switch back. When I install windows it works fine, I can turn my computer off and on as many times as I want and it will be fine, but if I ...

Re: Links don't open in browser?

probably not related but it may be worth a try. i have firefox and since a few days ago i click a link in mail and it'll take forever loading. i click the stop button, the the reload button and the page loads. you can try what i've been doing to see if you have a similar problem in chrome.
