Re: wm player has Anybody been able to install it on linux?

I gave the crossover a try and it works. WMP works but codecs are really bad - no flv, mp4, h264 etc. I saw the k-lite and downloaded it but have no idea where it goes. I saw WMP Classic on there but it doesn`t work. I go to one of my drives , say hd1 and press enter and nothing happens. Tried many ...

Re: change password without knowing current password?

I'm not the admin but the admin created me this kind of UID 0 account. He said he doesn't want to install any packages...

High-End Phone + Open Source OS?

I've been developing plans of buying a new handset. Droid RAZR MAXX, eh? But I hate it when people buy something aimlessly and then realize that their phone can't do everything that they wanted it to. I'm mainly right side of the brain, but I design products with an emphasis on technology and I have...

Re: Sony Vaio and Linux

hen either windows has decided to turn on automatic updates itself (I know, but I've herd of that happening before) or he's turned on automatic updates manually. Not hard to change it back to what is IMO the sanest setting- "Check for updates but let me choose whether to downlaod and install them". ...

Re: Is there a way to run games installed on another compute

Yessss, that's exactly what I want. My gaming rig is set up in the living room as the "family computer" but I usually play late at night anyway, so it would be awesome to be able to play from my room, you know? So wait, would I have to have a server edition of windows or something

Re: A required DVD drive device driver is missing.

Well, if you want to restore a backup using a 3.0 port, you can load the drivers. It is much faster once you get the hang of it.

But I had to install two setup (.inf) files to get the 3.0 ports working, a basic and xHXC version. Of course, this option is not available during an install.

What's your experience with Microsoft tech support?

I'm doing some research on the effectiveness of Microsoft's technical support, possibly for an article on SearchWindowsSecurity.com. Our site readers continually need help troubleshooting Windows security dilemmas. Some seem to find what they need on Microsoft's Web pages, and others don't get enoug...
